| Matthew Shepard Memorial Sermon to feature founder of Integrity |
Louie Crew founded a nation-wide organization of Gay Episcopalians
Trinity Episcopal Church (609 8th, Seattle/206-624-5337) will be hosting Dr. Louie Crew for the sixth annual Matthew Shepard Memorial Sermon, on October 8 (8 AM and 10:30 AM).
Dr. Crew is the founder of Integrity, a nation-wide organization of Gay Episcopalians.
Trinity's annual Matthew Shepard sermon was endowed six years ago to address questions of prejudice and intolerance both in the church and in society; the sermon is dedicated to the memory of Matthew Shepard, a young Gay student who was murdered in Laramie in 1998.
Dr. Crew has been a member of both the Standing Commission on Anglican and International Peace with Justice Concerns, and the Standing Committee of Human Affairs. He is Secretary of Province 2, and was co-chair of the New Commandment Task force, promoting reconciliation between liberals and conservatives in the Episcopal church. He created and maintains a website at http://newark.rutgers.edu/~lcrew/rel.html which receives up to 700 visits per day. Dr. Crew is Professor Emeritus at Rutgers, and speaks internationally.
Seattle Integrity will be sponsoring an open reception for DR. Crew on Saturday, October 7, at 3:00 PM. You do not need to be a member of Integrity- or an Episcopalian! - to attend - all are welcome to come hear and meet one of America's most important and outspoken Gay Christian advocates.
Dr. Crew will be available after each service during Coffee Hour. Please join us.
