Rustycon: A weekend with the wild and wacky geeks of the sci-fi realm
Rustycon: A weekend with the wild and wacky geeks of the sci-fi realm
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid - SGN A&E Writer

Rustycon
January 12-14
Sea-Tac Holiday Inn

Well, the year progresses-heck it's almost time for my birthday at the end of this month, the 26th to be specific-and once again there's a whole new slew of adventures to be had 'out there'. One of the ones this girl loves is going to Rustycon, the first con of the year, which this year takes place at the Holiday Inn Sea-Tac, (since the wrecking ball kept its 'date' with the beloved Radisson Hotel last year--sigh&) this weekend.

Always a smaller and more intimate convention than the more party-oriented, and legendary Norwescon (which takes place Easter weekend at the Doubletree Sea-Tac), Rustycon has generally spawned its share of 'tales' and memorable moments. Boasting a fine array of workshops, and offering fans of the sci-fi and fantasy genres a chance to get a heaping helping of everything related, Rustycon is also a place you can pick up interesting art, and take home some of the con with you from the Dealer's Room. And yes, there are a few room parties to hang out and a dance, as well as a masquerade where 'congoers' compete in a low-key fashion and show off their costuming skills.

For more information about Rustycon, go to the website at www.Rustycon.org. Online registration is closed, but you can register the first day of the convention on the 12th and can generally register early for next year's convention on Saturday. So, come, have some fun, be a geek for a bit and just hang with wild, wacky folks this weekend and cast off those post-holiday doldrums as I intent to do. See you there.
