Border Riders Motorcycle Club: A successful start to the 2007 riding season
Border Riders Motorcycle Club: A successful start to the 2007 riding season
About 75 campers celebrated men and motorcycles in the Cascades from May 18-21. This marked the start of the Border Riders Motorcycle Club run season with the 38th annual Victoria Day Weekend Run. The location was the Pine Flat Campground in the Wenatchee National Forest, near Entiat, Washington. The furthest a guest came was a member of the Association des motocyclistes gais du Québec from Montréal, Quebec. This distance was nothing compared to the furthest a member came for the weekend: Tokyo, Japan.

Saturday saw varied activities. A number of people took part in a poker run arranged with various area businesses. There was an organized 250 mile day run to Grand Coulee Dam. There were unorganized rides to Chelan, Wenatchee, and Leavenworth. Still others decided that a nap was what they needed most.

On Sunday morning the Border Riders remembered their brother who had passed away during the previous year. Dan O'Neill, who had served the club for many years as corresponding secretary, died last August. Canadians had Monday as a holiday, in honor of Victoria Day. In past years, it was usually a much smaller group that stayed through Sunday evening, as most US residents have to be at work on Monday morning. This year, though, around 40 people enjoyed the quiet of Sunday evening in camp.

The next Border Riders' run takes place June 15-17, 2007. It is at Battle Ground State Park, about a half-hour north of Portland, Oregon. All participants need to arrive on motorcycle, although camping gear may arrive on a support vehicle. There is a day run planned for Saturday. In addition, on Sunday there may be a group riding to Portland for the pride festival.

Reservations for the June run need to be placed by 5:00 p.m. on June 13. The Border Riders take pride in being good hosts for our guests. To do this the club needs to know how many guests to expect. As a result, registration is required. Make reservations by sending a message to info@borderriders.com. State whether you plan to arrive on Friday or Saturday evening.
