Seattle Commission for Sexual Minorities 'LGBTQI Speak Out!' community forum to be held November 10
Seattle Commission for Sexual Minorities 'LGBTQI Speak Out!' community forum to be held November 10
The Seattle Commission for Sexual Minorities (SCSM) will hold a public open space forum on Saturday, November 10, 2007, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center 104 17th Avenue S. The free event is sponsored by the Seattle Office for Civil Rights.

Forum participants will discuss local LGBTQI issues, including LGBTQI safety concerns, raised during the Seattle Commission for Sexual Minorities' forums last year where race, health, gender, diversity, aging and parenting were discussed. As a result of the forums last year the Commission has worked on transgender inclusion issues in Seattle and increasing LGBTQI diversity training for foster and adoption parents.

Several speakers from last year's forums will attend, along with local community leaders and topic experts. The Commission will gather information from these discussions to advise the Mayor, City Council and Department Directors on fiscal 2008 budget and policy recommendations that will improve the lives of Seattle constituents.

We are encouraging you to come and speak out! Let your voice be heard around issues that are important to you. Members of the Commission and LGBTQI community will be available to answer your questions and address other concerns you may have. For more information: Seattle Commission for Sexual Minorities, Jeanine Johnson jeanine@sexualminorities.org (206) 888-2307 or Jacque Larrainzar, Seattle Office for Civil Rights, (206) 684-4533, jacque.larrainzar@seattle.gov.
