| The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence host World AIDS Day 'Walking Wake' |
by Maggie Bloodstone -

Truisms of the week: you dont have to be Irish to enjoy a good old-fashioned wake (though being one myself, I find it doesnt hurt), and you dont have to be Catholic to hang out with nuns (again, it doesnt hurt). So unless you have an aversion to fun, you have no excuse not to join the Sisters of the Abbey Of St. Joan this Saturday, December 1, for their annual World AIDS Day Walking Wake.
The procession will begin promptly at 8 p.m. at CC Attles at 1501 East Madison and proceed down Capitol Hill, visiting all your favorite watering holes along the way, and ending at the Seattle Eagle, 314 East Pike. So no matter where you go that night, you will be likely to encounter a gaggle of nuns spreading their customary joy and leaving a sparkly trail for blocks. The Abbey nuns conceived the Walking Wake several years ago as a means of celebrating the lives of those who have passed on too soon, in the traditional spirit of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and intend to keep it up even after AIDS has become an ugly memory.
Come join the Sisters, Saints, and friends in lighting a candle and making a toast to life, love, and eternal glitter.
