SGN A&E Writer I think I met Terry shortly after I moved from Chicago to Seattle, and it was always a good thing to see him, as he was always bright and chipper. I most remember getting a phone call from him, several years ago, inviting me to join the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual contingent of the yearly St. Patrick's Day Parade through downtown Seattle. I shook myself awake and got down to 4th and Jefferson - dressed in green, of course - as fast as I could, and met Terry and a few other 'faeries' (Terry, to me more than anyone else, besides Michael 'Otter' Moore, signified what it was to be a 'radical faerie'), all of whom were dressed in glittery green. Terry also sprinkled green glitter as we walked, and gave me some to sprinkle, too. We giggled all the way though the parade, and laughed some more after, hanging out at Westlake Park, Terry in his huge green sunglasses with shamrocks on them. I'll miss him and his smile and his sense of fairness, as well as how he fought tirelessly for the rights of all people to live worthy lives in this world. Wherever he is now, I'm sure there's glitter all around, because that's the kind of person Terry was. |
