Lipstick and Lust
New year brings 365 days to lust
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid - SGN A&E Writer

So, as of this writing, being in Seattle, in this horrid weather, with the sniffles - remnant of the cold I caught and got over weeks ago - really bites. New Year's Eve plans are up in the air (by the time you read this though, hopefully I'll have talked to my Marine and had a fabulous New Year's Eve), and yet I'm hopeful. After all, a new year is dawning, and that means new possibilities. Will I connect with already lusted-after folks? Will I put yet another ad on Craigslist (though haters seem to keep knocking my new ones off!), or just work on getting the hell out of "misery town" (also known to some of you as Seattle)? Stay tuned.

So, more of my "personal bests" from last year. Did so love Hitman and seeing it with a rather rowdy audience, and am still loving the new show K-Town, and hoping it continues for another season. Also am looking forward to returning to the Tacoma Art Museum and checking out new shows there, as well as maybe seeing some plays in Tacoma, soon. And yes, I'll probably renew my membership at The Wet Spot, once the cash situation improves (as I know it will in the new year). Have to keep my whip arm limber, eh? Ah, and I did totally enjoy watching the last of the Kennedy Center Honors show the other night, where former Beach Boy Brian Wilson and former Supreme Diana Ross got honored. Loved everyone's clothes, the makeup and hope Mr. Wilson can get his depression demons under control in the new year, and that Aretha Franklin (who the camera flashed on for a brief moment, in the shot of the audience), drop some of those unhealthy pounds. Girl, we want you around for a while.

Also, a special shout-out to a certain long term Taurean friend (so far the only Taurean who hasn't disappointed me in some way) who made my Solstice bright and filled with lusty highlights. You rock! Now to continue a little more of my "winners/losers" short list from last week: Winner, someone who rolls with the punches and keeps on smiling no matter what. Loser, folks who blow a fuse at every little thing, making theirs and everyone else's life miserable. Winner, drivers who are more careful in bad weather, making sure to watch for pedestrians. Loser, drivers who think it's their planet and drive like that (often walk like that too). Winners, lovers. Losers, haters. Winner, people who respect boundaries, especially in public. Loser, folks who grab you (who usually don't know you), and start picking at your clothes like old aunties. Never, never touch someone you don't know, especially if that person is a psychic (like yours truly here), as you'll just make us nervous and make us hate you entirely.

So, besides waiting for certain folks to call/e-mail/text, what has this one been up to lately? Well, she did see a certain officer of the law (in the building where this one lives no less!) and got to chat him up, and even shake his gloved hand. Hope to see that one a lot more in the new year, fo' sho'! Also tried Star Powder by Makeup Forever, on lips and eyes and cheeks and will be wearing this yummy stuff on New Year's Eve (no matter who I end up with!), and also tried 'Lift Concealer for underyes, also by Makeup Forever (both of which you can get at Sephora), and let me tell you, it works wonders for tired eyes. And do try The Body Shoppe's Vitamin E Moisture Cream, which is so good for keeping your skin looking peachy under these harsh weather conditions. And this one is considering checking out Yves Rocher (the folks I still owe for makeup gotten a year ago, when finances bottomed out) because she tried the 'Ode L'Amour' eau de toilette last night before turning in, and found she still likes the stuff. Hope we can work out the finance problems and get me back to receiving yummy stuff like that in the mail. You can check them out at www.yvesrocher.com.

So, that's it for now my little scented bath pearls, and look forward to hearing about adventures at Rusty (coming up January 10 though 13 at SeaTac Holiday Inn) and of course my yearly adventures at Norwescon (which this one hopes is just as great as last year's was!). Be safe, spread peace, and let's all chant for sunshine to grace "misery city" soon, before we all turn into ducks. Happy happy, merry merry, and do feel free to e-mail me about this column and its twin the blog, at ijanaral@yahoo.com. Buhbye!
