Shady Lane Productions presents The Frieda Story and Anthem, two short works about coming and going, written by Kristen Kosmas, directed by John Kazanjian, featuring Elizabeth Kenny and Tina Kunz.
Frieda is looking for something, she just doesn't know what it is. Annelie is looking for someone she thinks is called Pablo Picasso. Meanwhile, others are looking for angels, and still others are just looking for Angie. The Frida Story and Anthem pair Kristen Kosmas' sharp, prismatic writing with John Kazanjian's deft and distinctive theatrical sensibility. The result is a world at once strange and familiar, ominous and tender, where women's work is writing erotica and making blindfolds, taking out the trash and dreaming about birds.
Kosmas and Kazanjian last collaborated in 1996 on Slip, which was named Best Solo Play of the Year by The Seattle Times. Slip went on to be produced by Frontera at Hyde Park Theater in Austin, remounted by Printer's Devil Theater in Seattle, and produced at Nada in New York City.
