William Alexander (Alex) Conrad III passed away January 22, 2008 in Seattle, Washington following complications from lymphoma. He was tended to by his loving partner, Scott Reichert, his sister, Marty, and his mother, Mary Ellen. Alex was born on June 26, 1953, in San Luis Obispo, California. He was adopted at birth by Dixon and Mary Ellen Conrad. Alex lived in Arroyo Grande, California for the first seven years of his life, then moved with his family to San Luis Obispo. He remained there through high school. Alex spent his adult life in southern California (Newbury Park, Oxnard, Ventura and Santa Barbara) and Seattle practicing the crafts of food preparation, carpentry, and antique furniture restoration. Alex was an accomplished cook and pastry chef and worked for many years in restaurants in both locales. For many years, Alex, along with his partner, Scott, remodeled homes and businesses in the Seattle area. They also worked for over ten years at the Pacific Galleries in downtown Seattle. Alex spent the last six years working at C.C. Attle's, preparing and serving food and beverages. For those of us who loved him, Alex will forever be remembered in our hearts. Alex's love of food and cooking, antique furniture, his five cats, along with his sarcastic wit and sharp mind, will remain with us. Alex leaves behind his partner of 18 years Scott Reichert, his mother Mary Ellen Brown, his sister Marty Conrad (Kurt Regas), sisters-in-law Terry, Sherry and Michelle, in-laws Robert and Karen Reichert, niece Cora Regas, nephew Ben Regas, and dear friends Steve and Patti Morris. A celebration of Alex's life will be held at C.C. Attle's (1501 East Madison Street) on Sunday, February 10, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a gift donation to a no-kill cat shelter such as Purrfect Pals (www.purrfectpals.org) is suggested. |
