Easter 2008 A time to replace adversity with very special religious services, family get-togethers, children's Easter egg hunts, beautiful flowers, cards, and telephone calls. For many people, Easter is a time to renew their faith to dispel the loss of their children in the military in Afghanistan and Iraq - a difficult situation for all concerned. Throughout our country, there has been climatic destruction, leaving residents homeless without too much hope for the future. Perhaps more than anything else, we must not forget our blessings and prosper in our resiliency. Buzz Flowers Callaway THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE Two years ago I was sitting on my bed with pistol in hand, ready to end my life. As I was about to pull the trigger I thought about the mess I was about to make and who was going to clean it up, my wife or daughter? Guess since I'm writing this letter I didn't go through with it. The only place that I felt I could turn to for help and know that my secret (I'm Gay) would be safe was the SGN. I sent an e-mail to SGN asking for some direction. I can't remember who it was that answered my e-mail, but whoever it was (thank you from the bottom of my heart) gave me the telephone number to the Seattle Counseling Service. I went there weekly for some time. My counselor has done a great job. I feel better about myself now. I still go there every once in awhile. The only person who I'm out to is my wife, and a couple of individuals and some friends. A little about myself, well, I was 63 at the time, a veteran, married with a couple of kids, and lived a pretty decent life except for the lie I lived for so long. Thank you for being there for me at a time when I didn't know where else to turn. P |
